Why everyone keeps coming back.

Nestled in the heart of Columbus at 2361 N High St, New Taj Mahal is a culinary haven for lovers of authentic Indian and Pakistani cuisine. This charming family-owned restaurant offers an inviting atmosphere that perfectly balances casual comfort with a touch of elegant tradition, making it an ideal spot for everything from a cozy date night to a vibrant family brunch.

New Taj Mahal’s menu is a celebration of rich spices and vibrant flavors, drawing from classic Indian and Pakistani culinary traditions. Their appetizer selections set the tone for a memorable meal—imagine biting into the Papdi Chaat, where crispy bread strips are layered with tricolor sauces and a fresh sprinkle of cilantro, delivering a delightful burst of textures and tangy sweetness. The Samosa Chaat redefines comfort food with its crisp samosas topped with a luscious chana masala gravy, cooling yogurt, and complementary mint and sweet chutneys, creating a harmonious blend of savory and sweet. For those seeking something hearty yet light, the Ragda Patties Chaat offers a uniquely satisfying combination of potatoes and dried green peas gravy, enhanced by zesty chutneys and fresh onions.

Main courses at New Taj Mahal highlight an expertly crafted balance of spices and textures. The Methi Curry is a standout, featuring tender meat simmered with fenugreek leaves, ginger, garlic, and a rich tomato-infused sauce that delivers both warmth and depth in every bite. The Mango Curry is equally remarkable, pairing succulent meat with sliced mango for a subtle sweetness amidst a symphony of aromatic spices. For mushroom lovers, the Mushroom Curry blends tender slices in a creamy, flavorful gravy that feels indulgent yet balanced.

The restaurant’s Taj Mahal Special Deal offers great value without compromising on quality: diners can delight in any appetizer (under $6), an entree with choice cuts including beef, goat, lamb, or seafood, paired with fragrant basmati rice, flaky naan bread, and a refreshing soda—all for just $22.99. This deal perfectly captures New Taj Mahal’s commitment to providing both variety and authenticity at reasonable prices.

Beyond the delicious fare, countless satisfied customers rave about their experiences. Marquetta Rattler praises the restaurant as “amazing” with “delicious” food, highlighting the wonderful naan and inviting vibe that suits intimate meals or casual dining alike. Sai Mukul Cheruku points out the exceptional paneer tikka masala and home-made naan, noting the thoughtful addition of a 15% OSU student discount—a testament to their welcoming spirit. Henare Karena shares an authentic perspective, noting the high-quality, genuinely traditional flavors that compare favorably with London’s best South Asian eateries. Regulars like Riley Griffin and Adam Redding emphasize the consistent excellence and generous flavors, even commenting on the impact of the carefully calibrated spice levels that pleasantly surprise those accustomed to milder curries.

If you seek an Indian and Pakistani dining experience that combines the vibrant complexity of traditional dishes with warm hospitality and a family-friendly atmosphere, New Taj Mahal in Columbus is a culinary gem well worth discovering. Each visit promises to delight your senses, awaken your palate, and leave you yearning to return.

We stopped here as Ruby Tuesdays was closed. Lucky us. My wife has lived in Tooting, London. This area specialises in Asian food. The meal was as good as anything produced there. The cook must have been Bangladeshi. We had beef, chicken and vegetable dishes medium spicy. It tasted mild to medium to our palette. We took some home and the flavours were intensified the next day. Money well spent.

Definitely one of the best places to eat in town, especially if you like curry/Indian food. I go often for the lunch buffet. It is outstanding! Several great options and everything was really good. Great menu dishes too. The place is a little old, but the food definitely makes up for it.

This is my go-to Indian choice when I am staying in Columbus. I've ordered here about five times now and they have never disappointed. I've tried other Indian restaurants but keep coming back. One thing to know though is that their version of "medium" spicy would be considered "hot" or "very hot" by just about every other restaurant. Even with the extra kick, the flavors are never overwhelmed by the spice. Try the saag paneer or tadka dal. Delicious!

Food was good and it was fresh and hot. I tried the buffet and everything I got was delicious. The butter chicken, lamb curry and chicken curry was tender and so good. The hole in the wall places are always the best and this is one of them. I will definitely be ordering from them soon.

Tasty and authentic food, with great deals on delivery. I have enjoyed many of their vegetarian staples. They can be on the spicier side (which I love), so if you prefer mild, select your spice preference as mild!
